Karen, thanks for posting the links about the pet food. Now is when I'm really glad that I feed my cats only dry food, although I'm keeping a watchful eye on the list.

I am watching the show on animal planet about the prairie dogs, just watched them chase off a coyote, then the whole colony did the wave! It was hysterical. They remind me of larger meerkats in the way they live. Good show on Animal Planet.

I can not decide how to spell Prairie, neither way looks right and I am too lazy to look it up. LOL So, you know what I mean.

Thanks for the info Shar, I am going to look up Beneful and make sure we are still good there. I heard all the hyenas but missed the viewing, I was on the other computer getting my travel insurance for the Caribbean trip and also getting tickets for LION KING! Yes! I have always wanted to see that. It is coming to Louisville again, it is the Broadway Production of it. YIPPEE, I am so excited.

Shar, I know how you feel...I've got 2 cats & a dog.  I use Friskies and Meow Mix, too...and I'm watching my babies like a hawk.  As I learn more things, I'll post it here for everybody.  I understand there is a class-action lawsuit going for the pet owners who have lost pets due to this nasty fiasco --- but it would be just like the factory to bankrupt under everybody.  Grrrrrrrrrrrrr....this REALLY ticks me off.

Thanks for letting me know, Karen. I feed my cats Friskies and Meow Mix. I checked their website and they say that their food is fine, but what else are they going to say. I check the news every day to see what food is added next. I get very angry about this issue. It's my cat's lives that are on the line and I have had them all since the day they were born.

Hi Shar...I had to pop back in & let you know that I have it on very good authority: Science Diet is now suspect, too. I'm associated with several animal groups, & I just heard from a friend in Texas who has Companions For Life, and she just heard from another gal in Kansas: Cat Association of Topeka--one of her foster/owned cats died this morning of renal failure - it was fed Science Diet. 

This whole mess is sooooo unbelieveable.

Shar, since they're not really sure what is & isn't safe, I'd also be wary of the bulk dry food that is sold from bins in grocery stores (where you bag the amount you want), or some of the discount stores where the odds 'n ends are sold from bulk lots that are discontinued or whatever.  The restrictions there are more lax...and I'd much rather be safe than sorry. 

There are many websites with good recipes for homemade dog 'n cat food.  My long time friend in England always makes her own dog food & freezes portions for the week -- and it smells & tastes so good that sometimes her husand likes to sample it!! ha!

Hey did you see Planet earth last week?..I can't go back to remember..where would I start..I'm no Betty!...I keep trying to keep it in the front of my head, so I don't forget to put a reminder on the tv...when I was young I swore I'd never be this way..laughing about it now!!

Oh my gosh, Shar...what fun thinking up new places to visit.  There's just so much to choose from...well, you could be doing this for a long, long time. I like the history you include with your commentary. Really cute.

I imagine NGM is pretty surprised by our crazy group and how much we've expanded the forums and still stayed loyal to NG.  Ya know, it just feels safe here.
