Did they ever get me, Jackie!  I'll share a pic of the cake as soon as someone sends me pics.  I took my camera but never used it.  I was just too excited to even think about it.  There were cameras snapping all over the place so I'm sure they'll share.  Half of the cake is downstairs but they put foil over it and the picture got messed up.

Bonnie, I sure do know that look. And the first 5 years of their retirement is not fun at all. All of a sudden it's their house, too. The nerve! A friend's husband really, really did arrange her kitchen cupboards alphabetically. For real.

BTW, I'm embarrassed to say that we just hit 70*, for 5 minutes. I have a few dandelions, a couple of primroses in bloom and my daffs are up 5 inches. They'll pay the price soon, I fear.

I've been throught the retirment thing once and I'm well prepared for the next one. When he retired from the Navy and he was home he even tried to rearrange my garden. Said that I had told him that it was nice looking and there was nothing growing so he was going to have to do something about it. I told him that it was only March and to keep him black thumbs out of my dirt. Since then he has bought some train sets and the garage has been turned into his train room. I didn't even play with doll, they weren't real so I have no intrest in watching little trains going around in a circle but it will keep him busy.  Its going to be something to see, he started with painting the wall to look like the scene that he wanted. He painted them bright blue and left the ceiling white. I asked him why the blue ceiling was on the wall and got the Man Look "What?"  A few months later he got a call to help out in the job that he is in now and only works on the train when he is home. The ceiling is still white, the wall are still a bright blue to the floor and the little train is still going around in circles.

Hope you are still here - I have a knack for being on when no one else is . . .  I got that Nature show last night, in fact, I saved it to watch again.  The photography was awesome!  Dandelions?  Here in California they are considered weeds!  We just got some new primrose in at the nursery - I think they are called "ocean primrose" - the flowers are about 3-4 inches across.  Swear.

Bonnie, Rich doesn't own that "look".  Ha!  I see it all the time.  My husband is going to retire in May, this is going to be a major adjustment for me, sigh.

Marian, I was thinking about you yesterday.  Kinda laughing at the thought that your kids thought they pulled the wool over your eyes and the surprise wasn't really a surprise.  BUT it was a surprise and such a good one!  So you can be fooled afterall, eh?  What a wonderful family you have.  Will you share a picture of the cake?

Good afternoon Bonnie. It went fine this morning. I was supposed to lay down for half an hour on the hour for 3 hrs. when I got home, but I wanted to get my work done so only layed down for about 10 minutes each time. Now I have to call them and tell them the pain level each time and then the doc will decide whether he thinks this will help. The block I had today was just a test block, only lasts about 3 hrs.,required by the good old insurance co., the final block would be longer lasting (hopefully).

Sound like the lodge folk had an exciting night.

Just checking in to see what is happening. The weather here is up and down. It is still cold, but I actually saw the sun for a little while. It is gone now. Hope you are all doing well and staying warm. I worked on a scrapbook of the Zebras from last night (here).

KJ, thanks to you I have now identified my sick bird. It's the go-away bird. I've heard them before but the ones I heard live made a more distinct "go-away" sound than what I've been hearing. Could just be that it sounds a bit different coming in over the computer. Thanks so much for the link, I'm so happy to have that mystery solved. (Still sounds like it could use some pepto bismol though). LOL

We don't get Ice Storms here in London..or foot deep, blizzard like drifting snow..Apparently according to our weather forcasters,London is in a low valley so the bustling city keeps in its heat...Pollution more like..!   Although we did have that little twister a month ago. and it was unseasonably warm today, though it won't take Londoners to complain that they don't like it, and for American tourists to feel disorientatedabout which European city they are in,'coz they expect London to be always damp and grey..

[Just joking, my friends over the pond..!]

keeps it's heat...,yeah, right! I didn't even have summer clothes when I lived there and every time I've visited since I've had to buy a sweater or sweatshirt because of "uneasonable cold". There is a brief time in the spring when the daffs are blooming at Kew and it is balmy. I have some lovely pix of my daffs & wallflowers bravely blooming in 3" of snow. And then there was the heaatwave in Ireland one summer...the roads were bubbling...it was 80*.

As Sherlock would say "Strange goings on afoot". The weather is going sideways all over. Here in western Washington we have a temperate climate and in Maine they have cold, snowy weather (its on the north east coast). This year we have had snow that won't go away and in Maine they are still playing golf . Have you been over to the states. I spent time in England and Wales and have some of the best memories of my time there. Love the pubs.

Bonnie, I can just picture your reaction.    Oh boy! I just hate it when my hubby messes with my puter. I like things the way I want them! Besides, I'm better at finding and fixing stuff than he is. LOL

You know how guys get the stupid "What?" look on their faces. When I let out a whoop that the computer was going to blow up he said "Oh, I forgot to tell you that I put a new program on your computer" and then  wonder away with out a clue to the fact that he just caused a bit of a flap. 4EE, I am sure that the British men never do anything like that so you wouldn't know about the "What?" look is. I don't care if he helps me with programs and computer things but when he starts ripping the juts out and leaving them on my desk I get my knickers in a knot, not that it does much good. That man is so laid back, can never understand what the fuss is about.

An ice storm. I haven't been in a good ice storm for ages. The last good one was years ago in Conn. There will be some super shot. I can't wait.,  now watch, everyone will get ice and we will get more cold, wet rain. What a downer of the thought. BRING ON  THE  ICE ( but keep it off of the roads.)

Hold that snow off for a while!  Tina and Michael are flying home as we speak.  They'll arrive up there around 2.

We just got a storm alert on the weather thing on the computer. The snow will start after they get home, it's not due now until late tonight. If Tina is away from the water she will get more than those near the sound, along the water it will be more rain than snow. When Rich first put the weather thing on the computer he didn't tell me that it would make a sound as an alert. One day the computer started making rolling thunder noise and it scared the begeezes out of me. I jumped away from the desk, though that it was blowing up. I kept looking for the smoke and sparks

"...scared the begeezes out of me..."

Do you ever wonder what would happen if you were scared 'half to death' twice?Indifferent

Hiya Julie, thanks for the url. Do you know how many pictures things you can have in Photobucket and how to move the to a library (?), if thats what it called.

sorry, I don't use Photobucket. I use AOL Pictures. It seems to be unlimited and I make new albums as needed.

A Photobucket album will hold at least 100 items, maybe much more, and when you want to, you just open a new album - it can go on forever. Plus you can tick off the ones you want to delete (such as used emoticons) and delete a whole bunch at the same time.
