Betty...too cute! He doesn't look real. is he/she yours?

wildebeest vs. gnu. Gnu is a word to hear...wildebeest/beesties/wildees are visual. IMHO

Shar...could you try?   mexmo@aol.com     thanks so much. I'll put the in my Africa folder. Could be we will do a little safari to Nkorho. that would be so neat.

I have been going through the movies I took and seeing what I can get off of them. I don't know what the bird on the bottom right is. Can anyone help? I know I took more pictures, but I am having a hard time finding them. I'll keep looking.

5 phones Julie - I guess if you live in a 10,000 sq. ft mansion it wouldn't be overkill Smile

Speaking of "have you ever noticed" things - have you ever noticed how we all take the time to type out Wildebeast, when we could just type - Gnu  (personally, I think it's because Gnu isn't a very pretty looking word Confused

Sometimes a beestie will get through which is shorter but I think the real reason is that Wildebeest provokes such great images. We've all seen shows about Wildebeest migrations. I always have a flash of that whenever I see the word. And, it seems very descriptive of the way they look - what wild looking beasts!

Another good one Shar. Now we need one with the kingfishers, that pretty blue and gold one and the black and white one. Oh, that's only 2 birds - well, you can fill in with something else Big Smile

Okay, I've lost track as to the number of pages I've done. I was looking through my pictures and have noticed that some of the things I thought I captured, I didn't. I am going to make a list for next year to make sure I get at least 1 capture of each animal.

Julie, I can send them to you if you like. I have to learn how, but if you give me your address I'll try.

Here is pretty birds 1. I have pretty birds 2, but I haven't finished "tweaking" it yet.

Shar I enjoyed the zebras. I missed them last night but I'm glad they showed up and that you got good screen shots of them. I was afraid that they were staying away because of the lions. Really funny that you spotted that rainbow on the one's rump! and isn't it cool that they were lined up like that as they walked away. You did a good job of capturing it all!

Have you all noticed how often the word "thingy" shows up on this forum..,,.and, everyone knows what it means? interesting.

Bonnie, don't ever, ever say that maybe you need the garage...the trains will be your key to sanity.

Boo, I think you were not too disappointed with your results today? I do hope the next one brings good relief.

Jackie...beware the retirement...find something that you have to do away from home, and do not give it up!

gifts from that guy you live with...my last birthday he gave me a $500 GPS for "my" car. It had many, many MBs of memory so you could upload pictures and music on it. Pictures...and music? on a GPS? the thing is, I love maps and travel guides and I love being navigator on road trips with my books. Of course, it was really for him! We haven't put pix or music on it...never will! We listen to NPR and look at the countryside when we travel. The grandkids love it, call it Lottie (apologies Lottie) because the NOAA weather computer voice is called Larry by mariners and this is a female voice.

The other surprise he had for "me" was when our telephone message machine was acting up. I went to visit my mother, came back and he had replaced it with 5, yes 5 wireless phones because the base was an answering machine and it was a 'great deal'. where do you put 5 phones? and, e never answers even the one next to his elbow, because "it's probably for you" even when I'm 2 rooms away.

Well, you sure pushed my button with the Mars/Venus talk. whew, got that off my chest. Actually, my husband is one of the good guys, it's just that he is an engineer! LOL

Boo--Your welcome.  Glad you finally figured out which bird kept losing its lunch. Smile

Gail--I use photoshop to restore old family photos from the black and white ones of my great grandmother to ones taken when I was a child on an old 110 camera.  The inexpensive new cameras today are so much better, so I would certainly think photoshop could correct and compensate for your camera.

Hold that snow off for a while!  Tina and Michael are flying home as we speak.  They'll arrive up there around 2.

We just got a storm alert on the weather thing on the computer. The snow will start after they get home, it's not due now until late tonight. If Tina is away from the water she will get more than those near the sound, along the water it will be more rain than snow. When Rich first put the weather thing on the computer he didn't tell me that it would make a sound as an alert. One day the computer started making rolling thunder noise and it scared the begeezes out of me. I jumped away from the desk, though that it was blowing up. I kept looking for the smoke and sparks

I put the weather thingy on my computer too, it took me two day to realize it was not thunder at the pond. I kept thinking it is sunny at the pond, what is up with that? Finally one day I had the pond off.... which was almost unheard of and it thundered anyway, then I noticed, it was red and flashing weather thingy. DUH!

More great scrapbook pages Shar! I am just home from doing the big girl thing, doesn't look as if I missed a lot of animals, but looks like you all had fun today

Sorry to interrupt everybody, but I wanted to you all know that we have a new sticky thread:

"Weather Pete's Pond" ...where y'all can keep an eye on the weekly weather.  I'll do one full week posting & then try to keep up with daily abreviated postings. The days are getting shorter for the pond.

And we still have the "Fixed Weather Maps" that update daily.

    Enjoy!

    has been having fun!

I noticed that you all didn't talk about zebra babies last night. Hope that doesn't mean there aren't any Sad

Boo, glad your treatment seems to have gone ok.

Bonnie - a couple years ago my son worked for the home office of a national franchise as a network/computer tech. He had a VERY puzzling problem that took FOREVER to figure out and it turns out it was that weather program making noise. What a laugh!

Glad Marian had such a great surprise party.

Let's see, many stories about retired husbands and projects.  Both my husband and I work at home a lot so we are already use to having very well defined jobs/chores/projects. He stays busy, I stay busy and we admire each other's work!

A question for all you exploring Photoshop, especially those who have some knowledge about cameras. I have a rather inexpensive digital Canon camera 3x zoom. My question is whether Photoshop can compensate for inexpensive camera. I do not have much knowledge about photography at all so I'm not sure how to evaluate this. Just something to keep in the back of your mind - I'm not in a hurry to buy a new camera quite yet.

I do find that I am fascinated by all of this and in fact it is another potential distraction to keep at bay. Since I work at home I have perfected the  ability to keep distractions at bay fairly well.

Well, Maine is a large state in area so the whole state has not been playing golf. I think that they may have down in the southern parts of Maine. We have had snow on the ground for awhile now even though we did not have a white Christmas, and more fell today.
