Welcome to New BAGs from Homer!

    Elizabeth Wasserman:
    Hello Bloggers!

Expect some new BAGrs arriving soon.  I just gave a program on McNeil River to about 30 Homer residents who braved a blizzard to hear about bears and the incredible Sanctuary called McNeil River.  You were part of my presentation in the "for more information part."  Your interest in these beautiful creatures and your activism is so inspiring  I passed on your contact info.  I brought the WildCam Grizzlies page up on the screen and showed them how to navigate to the blog.  Please welcome them into the fold.

We've got blowing snow and 30-40 mph winds tonight with a big storm pushing up out of the Gulf of Alaska.  The National Weater Service person said it passed Augustine Island (the volcono 30 miles away from where the McNeil bears are sleeping) had 80-85 mph winds!  Yikes!  I hope those dens are deep!

Stay warm (or cool for those of you Down Under) and I'll check in with you next year with an update on some other babies that are growing in the Sanctuary.

    Elizabeth

Hello to any and all bear lovers from Homer, Alaska!

Welcome to the National Geographic Grizzly Forum and know that you are now a BAG!  (Bears Anonymous Group....or Bears Adventure Gang...or ?!!!)

Please feel free to add your comments or questions here.  We understand if you want to lurk for awhile, but we really would love to hear from you.  We have fun! Smile

OOOH Rox, that doesn't sound good!    But rain though is good...isn't it?  When does summer end for you? March?

    G'day BAG's and Honorary BAG !

Hi Lin, the weather does seem a few degree's warmer than "usual" but generally the summer is hot here in the South West of WA.  Having said that, last year our summer seemed relatively short and not very hot, whereas this year people are predicting a longer and hotter summer than years before.  Today, it is humid, about 30 degree's and clouds above are looking stormy and full of rain.

I drove my car yesterday, but me thinks not to do that again for awhile! Wink

I am getting dizzy, being in so many climates in my head!  Hi Elizabeth...what did you mean with that tantalizing something for the new year?  Glad you are well and getting through your schizophrenic weather!  Rox, the warmth must feel good on your back...are those normal temperatures this time of year?  Add my welcome to any new people passionate about bears, love them all!

G'day Rox and thanks for the warm thoughts.

They worked!  The blowing snow has turned to rain.  It's about 36 degrees Farenheit here now and the wind just stopped.  Phew!

Somehow I seem to be able to feel the heat radiating off the sand!

I'm sorry to hear about your accident.  I hope your girls are taking good care of you and helping you keep cool.

Whoops, didn't quite fit on the page, but if you use the scroll bar at the bottom, you can scroll across to see it reads Merry C-MAS - written in the sand at my local beach !

Brrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr Elizabeth.     It is just too cold for me.  I'm sitting here in my toasty room listening to the wind howl and complaining that I need to go and take the trash out.  We need Rox to fan some of her HOT up to you.  Keep warm Elizabeth and stay safe.  We'll all keep our fingers crossed that the dens are deep enough.  I look forward to your next post.

G'day Elizabeth and a HUGE WARM welcome to our new Homer BAG's, should any of you be reading this just yet.

Thank you so much again for "our" latest update, Elizabeth.  Brrrrrrrrr sounds so cold over there and like you said I hope the McNeil Bears are dug deep into their dens.

It has been really hot over here in the South West of Western Australia, where the sun is blazing out temperatures of 35 degrees again today.  I injured my back a few weeks ago, and have been immobile, lying down with the fan on trying to keep cool !

Please enjoy a belated Merry Christmas card to you, Elizabeth and the Homer residents who attended your program.  Wish I had been there Wink

HAPPY NEW YEAR AND WELCOME TO THE NGM FORUMS !
