    Re: To: Tech People

I noticed today that when I view a link In Sights and Sounds (like Carmen's showing the sunbird) and then hit the back arrow on FF browser, I am taken back to the top of the thread. It used to take us back to the post that had the link. That was we could continue from where we left off. I am on a Mac and using FF. I would really like to be able to go back to where I was when I clicked the link. Carmen and others often have multiple links in one post. Now every time I am looking at those I have to search back for the post.

Thanks for all the hard work on the forum.

    Pat

Let me know if the button is where everyone would like it to be.

    Just fine, thank you.  Smile

At this point, the only other request on our plate is the "time since last post" calculation. If there are any other issues, please bring them to my attention.

Along with time since last post, showing the message number in the time stamp line has also been mentioned more than once.  Many of us use that to know where we left off when reading the mesages.

Is the name change from "Private Messages" to "Conversations" irrevocable?  Private messages is much more meaningful, and people are getting confused, thinking that PMs are gone.  Conversations are taking place in every thread.

Re: Melia Tech - Forum's search function

I just discovered that the "Search" function does not work.  I went to the thread where the text I was searching for appears, and entered "topiary leopard" in the search field.  It found NOTHING.  There is, however, a lengthy sub-thread with the subject "topiary leopard", which I was able to find by searching for messages posted by Pete Le Roux.  Searching the user database did not find any people named "Pete", either.  I had saved the link to Pete's messages on my computer though, so was able to find his posts.

However, using the browser's "Back" button, when you DON'T want the page to refresh, DOES refresh the page, which is much slower than just going back to the cached versison.  I'd really like to be able to go back without refreshing.

Thank you for listening to our comments and acting on them.  You and your team have been good to us and we appreciate all that you do.

I would like to say that I would really like to see the post numbers again, as it is much easier to keep track of where you left off, when you return back to the forum.

I was gone for 2 1/2 months this year and I keep a tally of the numbers that I have read, it sure did make it much easier to find where I left off before my vacation, and mind you I had to go back 100+ pages.

Oh and thanks for putting the post button back on the left.

Thanks again for listening to us.

Hi MeliaTech! Thank you for asking first for our input and second for listening to that input!! NGM and crew ROCK!!

I am going with the flow as most all of the pondies are but I really do miss the "newest to oldest" feature that doesn't stay set! And each time that I sign on I have to reset it! I can live with this minor inconvenience but it would really be nice if I didn't have to, LOL!!

I also miss the post number on the upper right side (on the date, time, In Reply to line)! It was just a very easy way to keep track of certain posts that I wanted to keep an eye on for various reasons!!

We are extremely appreciative of all that you are attempting to do!! Thank you so much!!

    Re: Melia Tech

Im not sure if this is what Rita asked, but when ever I post it takes me back to my first post for that day (or when I opened the forum) and I have to scroll up the page to find my current post or the newest post depending on if my post has actually posted yet.

ALso I have my setting set to descending order and when I'm on the lets chat thread I am at the latest post but if I go to another thread it takes me to the first post of the thread.  is there someting I can do to change this?

thank you so much for all the changes and fixes!  It is really appreciated

Just a few things with the new server: When we post a link it is highlighted in the post box but not on the forum..there it is gray . It works but we are used to highlighted links..we can adjust

We now have to refresh to see our posts and sometimes more than once..If we post fast the time gets longer..and we do post fast

If we aren't at the computer for a few hours and the page renews we are stuck on the last page and we have to come back in to get to real time

I'm ok with changes ..just thought I would tell you some differences

Thank you for all that you are doing to get the forum just right for all of us. You all are the greatest.

I was wondering if there was a way to change the background to something not quite so white. After a while, it begins to hurt the eyes. If you can't, I'll understand, just thought I would ask.

    Re: Distorted picture/Picasso's Pond

Thank you for trying to get a better running forum for us. There is an issue that is driving me nuts. I have to hit the refresh button multiple times before my posts will show up. Why don't they just show immediately like they used to?

Also, is there any way to revise the coloring? Some people are finding all the whiteness a bit hard on the eyes. Anyway to soften the effect?

Hello Melia Tech, thank you for all your work on the forum in our behalf.

I would like to ask, just a FYI for me, "Why when I post do I get "Edit Tags" at the bottom of the post?  Does everyone see it or just me?  I do not see it on other posts, so I was just wondering if I am the only one getting it or if it just shows up on my post and the others don't see it."

Thanks for all your time and efforts to help make this a better forum.  You are appreciated.

Hey, Betty, it's me.... LAP.... We all get the "Edit Tags" at the bottom of our own posts...
Thanks LAP, I didn't see where anyone had mentioned that.

    rp screen size

How come I can't get the smaller screen size today?  It opens at about 10X7.  I can't seem to make it smaller.

    Thanks.

    New Video Card?

With the change of the video card today, I am disappointed in the inability to convert to theater (full screen) mode with prior level of resolution and same sound quality.  Will that be a permanent change to the sight?  I much prefer watching PP in a format that is larger than 3"x3.5" with relatively decent resolution.  Hope this can be improved.  THanks.  Lisa

    MeliaTech....

Since the changes on the forum I have noticed that when I do a "Copy"/"Paste" the font sizes do not come out here on the forum as I have them on my original document. The Roll Call thread is one example: http://forums.ngm.com/forums/t/7282.aspx

All of the font is set at 12 but it sure doesn't copy that way here.... any idea what is going on?

Also, the links sometimes take me back to my last post, not the last post on the thread..

    http://forums.ngm.com/forums/p/6684/279931.aspx#279931

It has never done this before, but I have seen other people mentioning the same problem with where they end up when they think they are going someplace else...

    Thank you...

     hehehe...

    Re: To: MeliaTech

I don't know if this is the place to put this, but if there is anyway that the techs here can persuade RP to give the Mac Beta RP 11 the same downloading capabilities that the PC people have it would be most appreciated. I left the Pond running while I ran errands, and when I came back, the feed had stopped and I lost all that time of viewing. I like to make short videos and take snaps, so not being able to download and keep the video is a real disadvantage. This is especially hard when the feed stops constantly. TIA

Thanks again for al the work on the forum.
