    Problems with live feed

This morning the Pond stream has failed to load, loads and tries to connect, loses the feed, etc. I have a Mac using 10.4.11, FF 2.0.0.14, and the RP Beta for Mac.

This is the info on dropped frames:

I checked my download speed. That was not the problem.

    TIA

    Pat

Re: No Pond on Mozilla Firefox

Again on May 31 I am not able to get videocam on Mozilla Firefox.  I was connected on Firefox but the cam disconnected.  So I reopened the site but the video screen on NG site is white and will not even try to connect.  It does work on Explorer.  Why does this problem happen on Firefox?

    Re: Refreshing/MeliaTech

Like Carmen, I am having to refresh 2,3, sometimes 4 times before a message I post appears. It seems to be getting worse. Any help for this problem? Thank you.

     hehehe...

    Refreshing/MeliaTech

     1.  Although it didn't happen the first few days, now it is more often than not that when I post a message I need to refresh the page 2 or 3 times before I see my message appear.

    2. When I don't refresh the page for several hours, and the thread (V&S) has been active no matter how many times I refresh it does not take me to page # 1.  It keeps refreshing page # 2.

Is it possible to solve these problems?  Thanks!

Re: No Pond on Mozilla Firefox

NG Technical -- today is May 27 and still not able to connect to Pond on Mozilla Firefox.  Do you know what is causing this problem?  I am connected on explorer.  But I normally use Mozilla and don't understand why it occasional does this.

    No Pond on Mozilla Firefox

Today, May 26 I am able to connect to the pond website but the viewing screen for the cam is white and won't even try to connect.  This has happened a few times in the past.  I am able to connect on Explorer.  Do you know why this happens?

Re: One more "new" Forum quirk

I'm still being taken back to the top of the thread after returning from watching a link on the Sights and Sounds thread. I used to be taken back to the post that had the link, so I could continue reading. It takes a long time to find the link I was on before. I hope this can be fixed. I have a Mac and am using FF. TIA

     Hi Jayell,

I believe the style can be altered to show the links in color. I'll give your suggestion to our Web Architect.

    Thanks,

    Mary, NGS

    One more "new" Forum quirk

Is there some reason why when we post a link in a message, it does not show up in color any more the way it used to do?  When we are composing the message, the link appears both underscored and in color, but on the Forum, it is only underscoored.  Having them colored was very useful when scanning for links in a thread.

    WebCam Viewing problems

Hi its a while since ive been and posted on here but just have to mention that my viewing of the Pond is still a problem I do remember posting about it before and I got replys that others where also seeing it as I was. The problems I am having are the pictures seems to be rather dark and also its not quiet in focus also today I notice the water seems to have a weird flickering . But think my main worry is the slight blurring which is affecting the clear viewing of the pond and the animals.

I am just hoping it is not something to do with my configuration as I have no idea how to sort that out when I first noticed all this was when the New Webcam started working and at the time I had the updated version of Real player and I was advised that this could be my problem so I went and uninstalled the new version and went back to the 10.5 Real player which is easier to use but the screen view I get is still the same Dark, Blurred and slightly flickering.

Hope someone can help me on this as I so miss taking my pictures of the animals and this year must say ive hardly taken any due to them showing up not as clearly as they used to do.

    FourSeasonQueen:

evertime someone posts i getting emails..i unchecked everything is getting pretty annying already give tips please how to fix this

FourSeasons, up at the top of the page click where it says "Edit"... go to "Site Options". Under "Email Configuration" I have Receive emails - yes; Receive HTML emails - yes; Send notifications - NO !   Be sure to save at the bottom of the page after that.

Try that and see if it works.... Good luck...

One more thing that still hasn't been addressed - there is no horizontal scroll bar when an image is wider than the browser window:

    a ponder

This isn't a fix but a wonder. On the general chat thread it takes a long long time to load. There are over 183,000 posts with many pictures as well. We have gone to a new chat thread and it is much quicker. Is it feasible that a thread can be 'overloaded'?

    Re: To: Tech People

I noticed today that when I view a link In Sights and Sounds (like Carmen's showing the sunbird) and then hit the back arrow on FF browser, I am taken back to the top of the thread. It used to take us back to the post that had the link. That was we could continue from where we left off. I am on a Mac and using FF. I would really like to be able to go back to where I was when I clicked the link. Carmen and others often have multiple links in one post. Now every time I am looking at those I have to search back for the post.

Thanks for all the hard work on the forum.

    MeliaTech:

Let me know if the button is where everyone would like it to be.

    Just fine, thank you.  Smile

At this point, the only other request on our plate is the "time since last post" calculation. If there are any other issues, please bring them to my attention.

Along with time since last post, showing the message number in the time stamp line has also been mentioned more than once.  Many of us use that to know where we left off when reading the mesages.

Is the name change from "Private Messages" to "Conversations" irrevocable?  Private messages is much more meaningful, and people are getting confused, thinking that PMs are gone.  Conversations are taking place in every thread.

Re: Melia Tech - Forum's search function

I just discovered that the "Search" function does not work.  I went to the thread where the text I was searching for appears, and entered "topiary leopard" in the search field.  It found NOTHING.  There is, however, a lengthy sub-thread with the subject "topiary leopard", which I was able to find by searching for messages posted by Pete Le Roux.  Searching the user database did not find any people named "Pete", either.  I had saved the link to Pete's messages on my computer though, so was able to find his posts.

    MeliaTech:

It appears as though Posting does not automatically refresh the page you were viewing. We'll look into this further to see if we can reach some resolution for you.

Our performance efforts may bring resolution to this issue.

    Webmaster

However, using the browser's "Back" button, when you DON'T want the page to refresh, DOES refresh the page, which is much slower than just going back to the cached versison.  I'd really like to be able to go back without refreshing.

Thank you for listening to our comments and acting on them.  You and your team have been good to us and we appreciate all that you do.

I would like to say that I would really like to see the post numbers again, as it is much easier to keep track of where you left off, when you return back to the forum.

I was gone for 2 1/2 months this year and I keep a tally of the numbers that I have read, it sure did make it much easier to find where I left off before my vacation, and mind you I had to go back 100+ pages.

Oh and thanks for putting the post button back on the left.

Thanks again for listening to us.

Hi MeliaTech! Thank you for asking first for our input and second for listening to that input!! NGM and crew ROCK!!

I am going with the flow as most all of the pondies are but I really do miss the "newest to oldest" feature that doesn't stay set! And each time that I sign on I have to reset it! I can live with this minor inconvenience but it would really be nice if I didn't have to, LOL!!

I also miss the post number on the upper right side (on the date, time, In Reply to line)! It was just a very easy way to keep track of certain posts that I wanted to keep an eye on for various reasons!!

We are extremely appreciative of all that you are attempting to do!! Thank you so much!!
