    Seal Cam News: 02/13/08

    Hello Seal Cam Viewers:

It's a treat to see the seal pups being born and to have a close-up of the life cycle. We are working on getting the broadcast to you. A new system was required for this year's viewing and the NG WildCam Team is awaiting a status update from our partners.

    We'll keep you posted.

    Thanks for your patience!

    Kakadu Cam News: 02/13/08

    G'Day Kakadu Cam Viewers:

We are still experiencing technical difficulties; the WildCam Team is working hard to get views of Kakadu streaming to you. Most problems are due to the weather and flooding. This makes it difficult to predict when it will go live. At this point, we're not missing much because flooding in the area limits animal activity. We're looking forward to dry season viewing!

    We'll keep you posted!

    Thanks,

    Mary, and the WildCam Team

    Re: Kakadu & Seal Cams...

    Hi,

I noticed that you posted this same question on the seal cam forum as well!!!  You took the words right out of my mouth!  Nobody has answered anything other than the kakadu cam is under water from flooding.  With the Africacam not working I'm having withdrawal symptoms!

Well.... it's now mid-Feb and they're still not up and running.  Any idea of a new timeline on these cams?

     Thanks,

    Gerry,

As of August, Mary told us that KakaduCam was still in the planning stage for this year but no dates had been set for the camera to get up and going.  So what you're seeing is a replay of footage from some the rare times it was up and operating last year.  It had lots of problems with power and such last year - not a great year for KakaduCam.  Hopefully, they are getting all the smart people together to make sure the problems have been fixed (or fixes are being worked) so that we can see Rox's beautiful land "down under."

     Hoo Roo!

Updates on other National Geographic Cams

    SealCam is back online!

Thanks for your patience.  We've resolved some of our issues with the camera equipment.  However, there are only four days left to view SealCam live before we take a short break for the season.  SealCam will be live through September 14, 2007.  We will be offline for repairs to the viewing blind that supports the camera system. SealCam will return live in either December 2007 or January 2008. Stay tuned and enjoy SealCam highlights.
