Now what's this hyena going to do about that tasty carass?   Should have gone after it last night when it was close to shore. Big Smile

    Re: Elands

I read someplace (on line somewhere I suppose) that despite their size,  elands are quite timid.  It also said that they can be domesticated.

Thanks for the pictures and video BBE.

Elands always get nervous when a car is close

    Elands

Six elands came for a short drink, something scared them off - the vehicle that went by?

Saw the game drive vehicle:) Maybe the dogs or a leopard is nearby:) need to get some sleep---storm coming to louisiana:( not sure where it's going to hit:( Miss Jame could have a direct hit or me:(  Love all the elands coming to drink! fatty's meal sure does affect where the critters drink. Did anyone notice the crazy fleas this morning checking out fatty's meal? They are such goofy birds! And now a nice eland drinkin on the beach:) Big eland!

LOL at the hippity hops that last eland made on her way off cam.   Big Smile

Also thinking that Fatty would be biting off more than he could chew if he went after one of the elands,  specially that big old bull!

EDIT:  and here come more Eland...a little jumpy, aren't they...

I'm singing this map...Ooooh the blue bits are the water, the green bits are the land, the brown is where the mountains are....(from the Goons)

Yes,  the storms are fantastic to watch.....and to hear.   And it is amazing to see all the green appear in just hours....at least it seems that way.

Serious question for CW.....how do you tell the male from the female pied kingfisher?  Confused

    Afke:
I don't think we will have a thunderstorm, but whenever we have one in rainy season, we do have them on cam unless cam goes down. Remember pondies?? That one night where we had the shoreline full of Elephants (at night) with a big thunderstorm behind them?? Wonderful memories!

Maybe NG should put that back as the rerun clip again.  That one was fun to watch.

And here I was, thinking who or what is CW?  Yeah yeah, I know... crazy! :o)

I have to kreep up or the cam won't focus. Shhhhh :o)))

Those ants are still busy and the Hibiscus is blooming all year round I think. I can't remember NOT having flowers to show and enjoy

EDIT: yes, the B&W bird is the Pied Kingfisher. A male in this case :o)

    CW @ pond

Thanks CW for answering my questions...glad to hear Kudu are still in the area.

And thanks for these closeups..what is the blk/wht bird?  Is it looking for little fishies to eat, or the bugs?

I agree with Randy...you're crazy like a fox...and so well thought of all around the world!

Edit:  I love the way you 'creep up' on the bird on the thorn bush...shhhhh, don't disturb the little bird...hehehehe
