    MeliaTech:

In the server transition, e-mails built up from members' subscriptions. We've now cleared the backlog and re-enabled the e-mail system.

If you are getting a lot of e-mails, most likely you are subscribed to one or many of the site forums or you have selected "Email me replies to this post" on a previous post or reply. You can verify your subscription settings here: http://forums.ngm.com/forums/ForumSubscriptions.aspx. This allows you to unsubscribe (that is, receive e-mail each time a new post is made within the forum).

Alternatively, you can disable ALL notices using the "Edit my profile" and selecting "Site Options." You can then select No for "Enable Conversation Notifications."

We are still looking into the lag time for the posts. It may be a result of the scoring system that keeps track of everyone's posts taking awhile to make record.

    Thanks,
    Webmaster.

Thanks for the info. We always appreciate knowing what is happening.

    Forum Connection Problems

Hy Mary, and all at NG...the forum has been performing fine for me over the past month...but today was the first really big problem...I tried to refresh the forum to get new postings and it wouldn't connect...in fact, I've been trying to get into the forum for over an hour!  Mostly it just doesn't connect.  Then I got the "Sorry..." page about three times...

just had a breakthrough a few minutes ago (2:30pm EDT) and am here letting you know.

Hope it's something that can be fixed.  And thanks!

    NG emails

I, and many other Pondies, are receiving overwhelming emails from NG. Every notification of every PM I have received is being sent to my Hotmail account. Some of these are PM's I had deleted from my inbox. I am very disturbed by this. Please fix this problem before I lose my Hotmail account due to spamming.

I was able to post more easily today. My last post went right through. Thanks again for the continuing "tweaking".

How are things going for everyone? We've been making slight tweaks here and there and just want to make sure things are running well for community members.

Thanks in advance for any feedback,
    Webmaster.

On the whole the forum is running pretty smoothly lately.  The most consistent "problem" is having to refresh, sometimes more than once, after making a post before it will appear.  Once in a while it will take a long time to load a page or get a reply form, but compared to past performance this is minimal at present.

I am also having to refresh up to 4 times before seeing my posts  still. Thanks for keeping up the hard work and asking for feedback.

     Melia Tech.

The post button doesn't post with having to refresh and the preview button will only show written text.  It no longer shows the picture that we are trying to post or even the jpg. I use the preview when ever I'm posting a shot and I miss being able to check what I'm posting.

Well I guess that you could say that now I can't see how badly I have screwed up.

Other wise the forum is going much smoother.

Thanks for all of your work,

    Bonnie

The forums seem much easier to move around in now....easier to move from one thread to another, easier to read back to see what you missed while you were sleeping or working...even easier  to post, although I still need to refresh two or three times for my post to actually appear. Thank you, it is getting better!  Smile

Hi, MeliaTech. Things were going better until yesterday for me. Since then I have had a problem with the reply. It is very slow to respond and then the <p>p> (or whatever it is) come up and takes forever to go away. Then if I want to quote something I have to hit the quote button at least 3 - 4 times before I get the quote to show. Then the box comes up with a check mark in it saying that it will email me of any replies to my post and then I have to uncheck that so I don't get a bunch of emails.

Also, when refreshing on the Let's Chat thread I am often sent to the 2nf page and once I was even sent to the 4th page...???? Don't know what happened there.

Thanks for all your help. Sure wish you could help fix the pic on the live cam, and keep RP from crashing all the time.

     hehehe...

Help Please!!! I was able to view during previous seasons, but this year all I get is a red square, blue triangle, and green spot inside a tiny white box in top left corner of the picture area. I am running IE-XP-sp2 on a fairly new HP-PC

    Thanks,Josephrh

Hi, Josephrh. Have you tried loading the cam from the main NG page to RP? That is how I had to start, then I saved the addy on my favs in RP. Now I just start from there every day.

You can try loading this addy directly into RP and see if that will play for you. Just copy and paste it in RP. Good luck.... sorry about the prior reference to PB... that was a typing error... I have corrected it now.....

Another issue to report, a couple of us have been trying to change our avatars but each time you put in a URL and hit update, we get the screen message "sorry, there was a problem with your request".  Can someone please look into this? Thank you.

    Forum issues

Since the forum was "fixed" over the Labor Day weekend, we have all been having the same problems. . . the forum is very slow to respond to refresh, to post, to anything. It is by far the worst I have seen it ever !  Can someone please check into it and see what the problem is? Thank you.

No live feed for more than 24 hours

On the chance that none of the technical folks are aware that WildCam Africa has been having an extended problem of no live feed at all for over a day now, thought I would post this exchange from the Sightings & Sounds thread:

    "

    Jayell:

    glory:
just got home from work and in reading back do you think everyone could be at Paul's funeral and put  PP on re-run?

No, Afke posted before she left sayong that Galeboe and Lopang would be manning the camera while she was away at Paul's funeral.  The problem is, all of the people who know what to do when the cam and/or computers act up are also away at the funeral.  There's nobody at Mashatu that G&L can call on who can help.

Yes, that's exactly what's happening.  And I am wondering if perhaps Galeboe & Lopang are unable to access the internet, and are unable to read this thread.  They may not even realize the rerun has been on for more than twenty four hours now.  Although it does occur to me now that it seems a little odd that no-one from National Geographic  or RealPlayer has noticed a problem, in all this time. "

If anyone who might be able to help, or who will know how to contact someone who might be able to help, reads this, this seems to be the logical place they might drop by.  And we really miss the Pond, so anything you can do would be appreciated.
