    song

I found this in polar bear pics 2006

    Name: Binnur
    E-mail: leiticia@aol.com

I wrote this little song for about Dancer and Dennis last year after I got home from Churchill. I don't know how to post the music but here are the words.  I thought it was kind of timely now.

    Dancer and Dennis

    Dennis waits for Dancer

    On the frozen tundraland

    Dancer has been hungry

    No food upon the land

    He comes to say goodbye

    Each and every year

    Heading out to Hudson Bay

    Searching for the seal

    Dancer is a polar bear

    The finest in the land

    Dennis likes his whiskey

    He runs the Polar Cam

They've been friends for a while

    Meeting up each year

Just a precious week or so

    'Til the ice appears

    Dennis “I've been hungry

For a longer time this year.

    The ice is melting sooner

    There's toxins in the seal

A hunter took a nursing mom

    Her cubs scatterred in fear

    They're drilling up the arctic

For oil they do not need”

    Dancer is a polar bear

    The finest in the land

Dennis he don’t talk too much

But he sure can write like hell

    He brings us stories

    Of Dancer and his friends

    Just two battered warriors

    Living out God’s plan

Dennis “God put this here land

    Both for me and you

Please go and tell your kind

    We need this planet, too.

I want to bring my sons

    Strong back to you

Please don’t let them rape our land

    And leave us poison stew”

    Dennis “I was hunting

    North on Hudson Bay

    The ice started thinning

    A storm blew our way

An anxious mom did her best

To keep them out of harms way

But all she could was watch

    As her cubs floated away”

    For another dollar

    For yet another cent

    We sold our pristine planet

    For just another cent

The forests have all been torn

    Our animals are all spent

    They’ve  no place to go

But there’s money in the bank

    The pipes  were leaking

    For days on Prudhoe Bay

    Gallons blackened the tundra

    Where our mothers lay

    Their coats are black

    They are shivering away

    No one was watching as

    Galllons leaked away

    A nursing mom was peaceful

Her cubs cooed  in  her den

A shot bloodied her gentle head

It fell on the snowy land

    White turned  to crimson

    As wolves circled near

Now her head’s on his mantle

    Her cubs died in fear

    Dancer is a polar bear

    The finest in the land

    Dennis likes his whiskey

    He runs the Polar Cam

They've been friends for a while

    Meeting up each year

Just a precious week or so

    'Til the ice appears

    Now the ravens are circling

    It’s freeze-up time again

    Dennis sips  his coffee waiting

    For his old scarred friend

    The Polar Cam is ready

    It scans the tundraland

    The tourists are all silent

    Will Dancer come again?

    I am free

    You are free

    Leave them be

    Just let them be

    Ursala and Ursula

Ursula was my son's second bear.  She helped him teeth, sleep, play, share his worries.  I bought Ursala, on my Mom's advice just incase we lost Ursula.  We did briefly loose her, and my son could not settle to sleep without her.  I gave him Ursala hoping he was to tire to notice...he promptly threw her out of bed!  We found Ursula-major, the next morning.   Ursula, you might notice, is well loved.
