Well I certainly enjoyed poking my head in at lunchtime. The hyenas were great fun to watch !!
Thanks Afke! Always wonderful to have you at the helm.
Back to work for me. Happy ponding!
What a day it has been, indeed! Thanks for all the fabulous viewing, Afke. The birds have been especially lovely today. Poor little bird that got eaten by the kite probably wouldn't agree though.

It's not worth the risk apparently.
Life is not measured by the number of breaths we take, but by the moments that take our breath away.
For all the documentaries on television that show the hyenas as lethal killing and eating machines.. this sure is a different spin on these animals
This is great to watch! They are SÓÓÓ tempted . . . but also aware of the Crocodile in that water, who will probably defend his food.
Hello all :)
Oh they want it bad don't they. Wasn't the carcass a little closer to the shore earlier? Lost opportunity, perhaps.

Nobody dares. Is this the 3rd or 4th night now? The wild dogs did not dare. Previous hyenas did not dare, A lioness did not dare. During the day the warthogs looked quite interested, but they did not dare. Lots of interest but no courage.
Now there are 3 interested parties. The plot thickens.
Afke: You passed :o)
You passed :o)
Yay!!! Thanks teacher!
I have no idea where Fatty is :o)
But he's back again, sniffing hungrily around. Where IS Fatty, BTW? Is he paying attention?
Eland bull looked very much... in luv ;o)
Hyaena drinking
What a day!
:o)
Oh, and the mosquito's are very hungry ;o)
kismetmiss:
Just wanted to get another look at this beautiful sunset.
Looks Like He got Frightened by the Elands and ran away.
Now what's this hyena going to do about that tasty carass? Should have gone after it last night when it was close to shore.
OK, so this little guy is a guy, right Afke? Broad band AND a narrow band around the neck.
seems content to stay right here!
I read someplace (on line somewhere I suppose) that despite their size, elands are quite timid. It also said that they can be domesticated.
Thanks for the pictures and video BBE.
Elands always get nervous when a car is close
Six elands came for a short drink, something scared them off - the vehicle that went by?

Hi Jean, I saw and heard your Bee-eaters this morning :o) Didn't get them on cam though
There are a few huge Eland bulls around!
be safe!
Saw the game drive vehicle:) Maybe the dogs or a leopard is nearby:) need to get some sleep---storm coming to louisiana:( not sure where it's going to hit:( Miss Jame could have a direct hit or me:( Love all the elands coming to drink! fatty's meal sure does affect where the critters drink. Did anyone notice the crazy fleas this morning checking out fatty's meal? They are such goofy birds! And now a nice eland drinkin on the beach:) Big eland!
