    Re: Sorry Folks................

Hi, I am using real player 10.5... I also have a Dell computer and had no problems when I upgraded from the version 8, that came with it to the 10.5. Make sure that you have your computer set a restore point and then if for some reason it messes with it you can restore it to that point. Hope that helps

    Sorry Folks................

Even using "Help" I can see how to post a new thread.

I have been trying to view Pete's Pond web cam, for I hate to say hours, and I keep gettiing a popup saying Internet Explorer is experiencing a problem and then closes out.  I have visited other web cams today that use Real Player and I don't have this problem.  I have tried opening up every National Geographic web cam they have and still can't view anything.

I have Real Player 8 on my Dell computer, OS XP.  When I go to the Start button and click on Real Player it says I have using an 'outdated' version.  Geez I just got this computer 10 months ago and Real Player is outdated already?

Real Player says I can download the newest version 'free'.  I did that a year or two before I got this computer and Real Player messed up my computer.

I was so excited to hear that Pete's Pond was up and running again, especially since I was only able to view a fews days last year - with this same computer I may add.  So very frustrating!!

Might anyone, Bill?, be able to offer any help, suggestions?

    Thanks so much!

    Re: External usb drive

My answer is probably going to be unsatisfactory. Not all programs can be run from USB drives nor do all USB drives support running programs from them. My suggestion is to check the software's web site and see if they have a portable version which can be run from a USB drive and then to go your local tech store and check out the drives and quiz the hopefully knowledgeable help and read the packaging. If you are tying to free up a cramped hard drive then a better solution might be an external hard drive which can be used to store your files and backups. That would protect them in the event your computer or e-mail program crash and leave sufficient room on your C drive for your programs.

    Re: BILL'S TECH CORNER

The individual backups should not be all that large and you really on need to keep the two most recent, just in case you need to restore things to the way they were; the rest of them I would just delete. Yes you can copy them to a CD if you want to but like I said you can delete all but the most recent. By suggesting that you keep the two most recent I am being cautious, you could probably get away with just the most recent backup. I just realized that if you just ran ccleaner for the first time then it most likely found a large number of registry errors and it could be a sizable file and if your hard drive is getting a bit cramped then yes you could back it up to a CD.

I would like to be the first to pose a question to Bill,(here that is).  When you do an Issue scan, it ask if you wanted to save a backup.  Is it really needed?  I have several saved on my C drive and it is taking up room, can I delete these?

    Thanks.   Betty

It is always a good idea to do a backup of the registry before attempting a fix; it is extremely unlikely that ccleaner will do any harm but it is a safe practice. You can delete all but the most recent.
Thanks Bill, another question, can I copy the backups to a CD and then remove from the hard drive (C)?

You couldn't have stayed out of character for more than a couple of days before one or the other of your doppelgangers would have made an appearance.
